What about taxes?
It depends on the type of lease you have. Operating lease payments, like rental fees are considered operating expenses. If you have a capital lease (sometimes called a "finance lease"), the equipment is considered an asset, but the interest on lease payments is a deductible business expense.
Generally speaking, capital leases are used for equipment valued at $50,000 or more. Operating leases are more common for less expensive machines. Read more here. Always consult your tax professional.
